Cirebon Office Workers With Bird Flu Symptoms Increase to Four

Recombinomics Commentary

January 5, 2006

According to the Section Head the Health of the Cirebon Regency, the Retina Sri True, two days before that was known the migration of thousands of water poultries that alighted in trees in the page behind the house of the regent's service happened.

In the meantime, the regent's four servants that was expected terjangkit birds flu currently still is undergoing the maintenance in the Infection Hospital Prof. Dr.Sulianti Saroso, Sunter, Jakarta North.
They were the servant was named Ade and Ela as well as the guard of the garden and the Sudibyo poultry as well as Suhartono.

The above comments indicate the number of government workers at the Cirebon Regency has increased to four.  The comments also mention the appearance of waterfowl near the home a few days prior to symptoms.

The increased number of cases that appear to be linked to casual contact is cause for more concern.  Like the cases in Turkey, these clusters are growing and transmission to humans is becoming more efficient.

Indonesia has not made any H5N1 sequences from2005 publicly available.  Media reports indicate at least two versions of H5N1 are co-circulating and the above report suggests additional new sequences are migrating into the area.

Many of the polymorphisms found in earlier isolates from Indonesia are also in H5N1 sequences in China.  Deposit of sequences from human and poultry outbreaks in Indonesia and China would be useful.
