Pediatric H3N2v Case In Napa County California
Recombinomics Commentary 03:20
January 5, 2012

A pediatric patient with a possible novel influenza A virus was detected in Marin County. The specimen tested positive for an influenza A (H3 variant) and will be sent to appropriate lab for strain-typing. The patient was a resident of Napa county and was treated for mild symptoms.

The above comments are from the Marin County week 50 report.  H3N2v (trH3N2) advisories were sent out by the California Department of Public Health and Sonoma County Public Health due to the CDC request for increased surveillance and sub-typing of pediatric cases in all 50 states.

An explosion of novel cases and clusters in the United States is expected.
