Paradigm Shift Intervention Monitoring | Commentary 14 Suspect Bird Flu Case in Mekong Delta Vietnam Recombinomics Commentary January 11, 2005 >>Fourteen people in seven Vietnam's southern localities have been hospitalized since Monday for being suspected of suffering bird flu, a local health official told Xinhua.<< It sounds like the fourteen hospitalized bird flu cases include the six patients described previously. Four have been confirmed and three have died. Thus far there are no reported discharges of a confirmed case this season. These cases are in the Mekong Delta region and the spread of H5N1 seems to be radiating out from a concentration of H5N1 infected ducks in and around Can Tho city. More detail and the avian influenza symptoms and sequences would be useful. Media link |
