The patient (18F) described above is now the 4th confirmed bird flu fatality. Thus far only one other patient has been confirmed this season. She is also 18 and is in critical condition. Her 15 year old sister is hospitalized and among the 10 suspect cases. Thus far none of this season's bird flu patients have recovered. All are in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam.
