Paradigm Shift Intervention Monitoring | Commentary 5th Confirmed Bird Flu Fatality in Vietnam Recombinomics Commentary January 17, 2005 >> Bird flu has hit 18 Vietnamese provinces and cities, killing and leading to the forced culling of around 234,000 fowls since Jan. 1. Vietnam has detected six human cases of bird flu infection since the latest outbreak, of whom five died, said the Health Ministry's report on Monday. << The above report suggests the 35F has also died, bringing to five the number of confirmed avian influenza cases to have died. Thus, there have been 6 confirmed and 9 suspect bird flu cases. The only surviving confirmed case (18F) has a 15 year old sister who is a suspect case. The increase in the number of culled or dead poultry indicates the spread of bird flu cases continues to increase. The spread includes H5N1 asymptomatic ducks which are endangering the food supply in Vietnam. Media link |
