![]() Nineteen Suspect H5N1 Patients in Thailand Recombinomics Commentary 20:20 January 26, 2008 In Phichit, 19 people in Sak Lek district have fallen ill, two aged younger than five, provincial health officer Prachak Watanakul said. "All of them had direct contact with chickens. The above comments describe suspect H5N1 patients in Thailand. Two outbreaks have been confirmed this week (see satellite map) and a third is suspect. The patients above are linked to the second outbreak (in Phichit), which has been H5N1 confirmed. The above patients are being monitored, It is not clear that they have started Tamiflu treatment. Another media report describes four families being monitored in the area. Details on the H5N1 in Thailand are unclear. Recent outbreaks and cases in Vietnam appear to be the Fujian strain. Myanmar has reported its first human case recently. More details on the above cases would be useful.
