Flu Deaths In Week 4 FluView

The above distribution of week 4 pediatric flu deaths will increase the season total from 37 to 45. However, in addition to the 8 deaths cited above, and the 37 cited in week 3, there are 14 additional cases which have been cited in media or stae lab weekly reports.
As described below, five of the additional cases are in state lab reports, with four more confirmed and five more probable. The pediatriatric flu deaths are a trailing indicator and the large jump in influenza hospitalizations and deaths are not yet reflected in the week 4 FluView.
