Three Suspect H5N1 Patients Hospitalized in Calcutta Recombinomics Commentary 22:37 February 3, 2008 In Kolkata, three persons with symptoms of avian influenza have been admitted at the MR Bangur Hospital since Saturday night. They were involved in culling operations in the state. The above comments describe three suspect H5N1 patients hospitalized in Calcutta. Media reports describe cullers who either did not take Tamiflu or terminated prophylactic treatment early. It is unclear of the above cases were among those with sub-optimal oseltamivir courses. Other patients have been said to be under observation, but reports noted an absence of lower respiratory tract symptoms. It is unclear if the “symptoms of avian influenza” include pneumonia. More information on these recently admitted patients would be useful. Media Links Recombinomics Presentations Recombinomics Publications Recombinomics Paper at Nature Precedings |
