Two Suspect H5N1 Fayoum Patients Transferred to Cairo

The above translation describes two suspect H5N1 patients who were hospitalized in Fayoum and then transferred to Cairo.  Although the translations lack detail, suspect H5N1 patients transferred to Cairo frequently are confirmed.

These two patients followed recent confirmation of two other patients from Fayoum.  Both had pneumonia.  One (25F) has died, while another (8M) is in stable condition.

The clustering of cases in Fayoum remains a cause for concern.  More detail on the suspect cases, and release of sequence data from the confirmed patients at the end of 2007, as well as the confirmed patients this year, would be useful.
