Suspected Bird Flu in North Korea

Recombinomics Commentary
March 14, 2005

>>  Thousands of chickens were allegedly killed a month ago after contracting a suspected bird flu virus at a chicken factory in North Korea, sources said Tuesday. <<

More details on the subtype would be useful.  There is considerable genetic instability in bird flu subtypes in South Korea, including H5N1 detected last year.

Adjacent Primore in Russia has reported isolation of H5 subtypes also.

In addition schools were closed in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk  for the month of February due to respiratory illnesses.
