Hangzhou H7N9 Cases Raise Concerns
Recombinomics Commentary 07:30
April 3, 2013

Two persons in Hangzhou was found infected with H7N9 bird flu, where one of them was dead, China's state-run TV writes on its Sina microblog

The above comments describe two more H7N9 cases in China.  Once again, these were severe case with one patient dead and the other in critical condition.  As seen on the map, these cases surround Shanghai, but are widespread.

The latest cases increase concerns that the presence of D225G and Q226L represents human adaption of a lethal bird flu virus that has a greater pandemic potential than H5N1.  This potention is enhanced by the presence of PB2 E627K.

More information on these two cases, as well as additional sequences from confirmed cases would be useful.
