Paradigm Shift Intervention Monitoring | Commentary Bird Flu Cluster in Quang Binh Vietnam Expands Recombinomics Commentary April 5, 2005 l>> The woman was taken to hospital in Hue the previous day and both were being tested to see if they had contracted the H5N1 virus which has killed 49 people in Asia. << Although the residence for the women taken to the hospital in Hue was not given, a number of the suspect cases in Quang Binh were transferred to the Central Hospital in Hue. It seems likely that this latest case extends the Quang Binh cluster. The index case died and her 5 year-old brother tested positive for H5N1. He was just released from the hospital in Hue. Although samples were collected from about 30 people in Quang Binh, who had flu-like symptoms, results from the National Institute for Hygiene and Epidemiology in Hanoi have not been announced. They are also testing additional cases from the Haiphong cluster, and those results have not been released either. Media link |
