The above April 16 APHIS list cites the reported farm H5N2 outbreaks since March 4. It shows 14 confirmations (all turkey farms) this week.  However, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has reported Fujian H5 confirmation in a mix poultry (80 birds) backyard farm in Juneau signaling an explosion of ird flu infections linked to increasing wild bird migration.

The two new counties in Minnesota (Otter Trail and Roseau) are north of all prior confirmations in Minnesota, and Roseau shares a border with Canada (see H5N2 map).

Although CIDRAP and ProMED are in denial with regard to the role of wild birds in this spread, the increase and concentration in Minnesota, “The Land of 10,000 Lakes”, as open water increases and ducks and geese fly north, was predicted.
