H1N1 Fatality Among 200 Infected Navy Cadets in Thailand
Recombinomics Commentary 13:14
June 29, 2009

The naval conscript suffered from bleeding in lungs and his heart stopped beating several times Sunday night.

Doctors put him on respiratory system but he succumbed to the disease at 9 am Monday, Rewat said.

The above comments describe the death of a navy cadet in Thailand.

A prior report described 7 confirmed cases as well as 200 ill cadets aboard a ship docked at the Shatthib base (see updated map).  Although these cadets have been identified and quarantined, the death of one of 200 ill patients raises concerns about the attack rate as well as additional serious cases and fatalities.

An update on the status of the 200 symptomatic cadets, as well as sequence data on the H1N1 would be useful.
