H3N2v Case Confirmed In White County Indiana
Recombinomics Commentary 01:30
August 8, 2012

As of Tuesday, the State Health Department confirmed 14 people in six Indiana counties tested positive for a type of swine flu called Variant Influenza A.

The above comments are from a Jay Hermacinski piece on confirmed H3N2v in people linked to the Monroe County fair.  The ISDH August 3 press release cited 11 cases from four counties – LaPorte (5), Jackson (4), Jennings (1), Tipton (1).

Two of the three additional cases were from Monroe County, as indicated in today’s Monroe County Health Department press release

Jay Hermacinski e-mailed Recombinomics that the additional case was from White County, as indicated by ISDH.

This update indicates that the confirmed cases in Indiana are widespread.

More detail may be in Thursday’s MMWR.  By Thursday, additional confirmed cases in Washington County should be noted.

The widespread H3N2v cases in Indiana continue to raise pandemic concerns.
