Paradigm Shift Intervention Monitoring | Commentary . Pham Family Transmissions Recembinomics Commentary August 14, 2004 The name, Pham Thi Nha Tuc, of the confirmed H5N1 fatality in Hau Giang matches the initials, PTNT, of the "elder sister" in the family described in the initial reports of the four fatalities with similar avian flu symptoms. Her brother, PDC, age 19, died on July 30, but she did not develop symptoms until he had died. In addition, her cousin, PTKC, also died on July 30, although she lived in a neighboring township. The confirmed case, PTNT, died on August 6. The time of disease onset on death raises serious questions concerning human to human transmission, which is not being addressed in WHO press releases or current media reports. . Media link |
