H5N1 in Swine

The detection of H5N1 in swine should not be a surprise. The sequence of a H5N1 swine isolate was deposited at GenBank. on June 6 and was publicly available about a month ago. I have commented on human/swine sequences in H5N1 isolates from Vietnam and Thailand on these commentary pages.
The isolates from Vietnam and Thailand have already recombined with human sequences and H5N1 in swine is an obvious concern.
