In the story linked below, WHO has acknowledged that there has not yet been any link established between the deceased mother and sick birds. Her travel from Bangkok to the daughter's hospital to the north, coupled with the onset of symptoms in the mother after the daughter's death, also minimizes the likelihood of a common source.
The initial negative data for samples from the aunt is another concern, if the aunt's clinical picture deteriorates, because the virus may have recombined and generated a virus that is no longer recognized by the screening tests.
