Adjustments were made for false negative test results as well as a ratio between hospitalizations and deaths. The estimates also indicated there have been 8 million pediatric infections and 3600 hospitalizations. These numbers only begin to reflect the severity in children because flu season deaths are historically focused between December and May, so marked increase are expected.
