The five patients entered RSUD Serang on the Wednesday (19/12) after beforehand could undergo medical treatment in the local Community Health Centre. Moreover, according to Syamsuri, 30, one of the Muhlas families, in his house still was having two patients more who experienced the same sign and were not yet carried to RSUD Serang because of being waiting for the five patients in brought to RS Persahabatan. The two patients namely Mubitin, 33, and NY Garba, 65, both still one family. The above translation describes seven suspect H5N1 patients in Serang. Five from one family have been hospitalized at a major infectious disease hospital in Jakarta after first visiting a local clinic, followed by hospitalization at RSUD Serang, followed by transfer to RSUD Friendship. These five patients from the same family live near poultry that died and were H5N1 positive. Test results are not in yet on the five hospitalized or two additional patients who also have bird flu symptoms. It is unclear if the two additional patients are from the same family or from a neighboring family in Serang. The hospitalization of 5 or 7 family members in Jakarta are cause for concerns. Recent confirmed cases in Indonesia have clustered in Tangerang, just west of Jakarta, although the recent cases have not been reported as familial clusters. This cluster is just west of Tangerang, but hospitalization is in Jakarta. More information on this large cluster would be useful.
